Zero Tolerance Policy - Update

In an effort to provide every participant with a healthy, safe athletic environment that encourages fair play, effort, teamwork and sportsmanship, SYHA & USA Hockey support a Zero Tolerance Policy for players, parents, coaches, game officials, referees, team officials, league administrators and spectators. This policy requires that a sportsmanlike and positive atmosphere exist before, during and after all SYHA and/or USA Hockey sanctioned events.

POLICY

All SYHA players, coaches, team officials, league administrators and parents and guardians are expected to conduct him/herself in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner at all times before, during and after SYHA and/or USA Hockey sanctioned events. Good conduct is expected to extend to referees, game officials, and spectators, as well as to opposing players, coaches and parents.

Any instance of violence on SYHA reserved ice or during an SYHA event that is reported to the board of directors by a coach or parent or guardian will be dealt with promptly. There is no room in youth sports for this type of behavior.

We are an organization for all children that wish to adhere to the rules and enjoy the youth hockey experience for what it is. Failure to abide by SYHA and/or USA Hockey's Zero Tolerance Policies will result in disciplinary actions against the player(s), parent(s)/guardian(s) and/or spectator(s) involved, at the sole discretion of the SYHA Board of Directors.

Thank You,

Somerville Youth Hockey Board of Directors
